MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-Monroe County joins Lowndes County and Tupelo police in starting a cyber crimes unit to track down sexual predators and others in the growing Internet crime trend. Three of the department’s investigators patrol the Internet looking for everything from people selling stolen merchandise to scam operators in the county to men and women looking for inappropriate relations with children. The investigators have received training through cyber crime units at Mississippi State and the attorney general’s office. Since the beginning of the year, the Tupelo Police Unit has made a string of arrests of men trying to entice children.
