Video: Most Mississippians Filed 2014 Taxes by April 15th Deadline

According to the IRS, the vast majority of taxpayers in Mississippi have already filed electronically.

So far, 935,000 Mississippians have filed their taxes as of April 12th. The total number of taxpayers will be about 1 point 2 million, including those who filed for extensions. The Mississippi Department of Revenue, says over 500,000 tax refund checks have been sent out to Magnolia State taxpayers, with payments totaling about $215 million. Last year, nearly 800,000 refunds were sent by the April 15th deadline. Though most people file electronically, there are still those who prefer to file their returns by mail.
Most Post offices in North Mississippi will close at their regular time on Wednesday.
