OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss.- (WCBI)What are you doing for others?

For the National Day of Service, volunteers from Mississippi State University made a trip to the Adaton-Self Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

Armed with brooms, Maroon volunteers swept and cleaned the location.

The students also scrubbed the fire truck.

Volunteering to help those who serve is what this day is all about.

“MLK Day is a day on, and not a day off. We like to say to our students in our community. ‘volunteer.’ We are here giving back to the community,” says Assistant Director of Student Leadership Meggan Franks.

This was just one of many events involving MSU and the city of Starkville in honor of MLK day.
