NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI)-Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany could be getting a new emergency department.
Officials are asking the state Department of Health to authorize the new ER.
If approved the $12 million dollar plans would add a 20,000 square-foot extension to the south side of the hospital.
Which would give the department a new facility complete with 22 patient rooms compared to the current seven.
The ER is currently on track to have $25,000 ER patient visits this a growth of 7 to 10 percent a year.
If approved the building would be constructed in 9 to 18 months.
