MANTACHIE, Miss. (WCBI) — Starting in a few weeks, the playing field — at least water rates — will be level in and around Mantachie.
The Mississippi Public Service Commission has approved new water rates for people living one mile outside the city limits after a four-year process.
The new rates impact about 120 customers.
Rates for the rest of the city’s water customers already have been adjusted.
Under the new rates, rural residents on city water will pay $17 per month for the first 2,000 gallons. That’s about a $4 per month increase. They’ll pay about $2.50 for each additional 1,000 gallons.
Mantachie’s last rate increase was 7 years ago.
