LaMonica Peters



LaMonica came to Columbus from WXVT in Greenville, MS. She got her start there in November 2011 as reporter and weekend anchor.

Before moving to Greenville, she worked in radio in Los Angeles, CA, her hometown. She interned at KJLH, an independent radio station owned by Stevie Wonder. She also worked as an Associate Producer at KPFK under the tutelage of host, author and MSNBC contributor, Earl Ofari Hutchinson.

LaMonica has worked as a freelance reporter for Intersections: South L.A., an online newspaper managed by USC Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism. She was also chosen as a 2011 Journalism Fellow by the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.

Prior to starting her journalism career, she worked as an educator in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

From 2010-2012, LaMonica served as President of the UCLA Black Alumni Association. During her term, she was able to mentor UCLA students as well facilitate a program assisting inner-city high schoolers with the college application process.

LaMonica is a California girl at heart, loving fun in the sun and being a die-hard Los Angeles Lakers fan. To relax, she enjoys spa days, hanging with friends and family, music festivals and bowling.
