NWS Confirms Monroe County Tornado
MONROE COUNTY (WCBI) – The National Weather Service confirms it was indeed a tornado that caused damage last night in Monroe County. Survey teams today determined the tornado to be an EF1 storm with peak winds of 100 MPH.
The tornado actually formed in Clay County but the storm was on the ground for 6 miles in Monroe County near Muldon. A barn and several vehicles were damaged by the twister but no one was injured. Surbvey teams from Jackson are reviewing possible tornados in Winston, Oktibbeha and Lowndes but have not released details on their strength
