Video: Okolona Superintendent Pick Rejects Job

OKOLONA, Miss. (WCBI) — The Okolona School District is turning to its second choice for a new superintendent to help it come out of state oversight.

Following a round of interviews Sunday with three finalists, the district’s new school board offered the job to Arkansas educator Doctor Jerry Woods.

But Woods told the board this week he wasn’t going to take the position, citing personal reasons.

Now, the board will meet Monday with its second choice, Dexter Green, a principal in the Tunica County School District and a 23-year education veteran. Green says he’s still interested in the position.

The district began coming out state conservatorship last summer. The new board was appointed in December.
