SALTILLO, Miss. (WCBI) – Students at Saltillo Elementary gets in one final practice before they perform a Christmas production for the community.

Thanks to $1,000 grant from Macy’s, 100 schools across the country will present ‘Yes, Virginia, The Musical.”

Fourth graders perform Friday (12/14) night and fifth graders perform Saturday (12/15) afternoon.

For the first time, the school has a staff volunteer who is teaching drama at Saltillo Elementary and directing the play.

The musical tells the story of Virginia O’Hanlon, an 8 year old who wrote a letter to a newspaper in 1897 asking if Santa was real.

Macy’s is providing the musical’s materials royalty free to schools nationwide.
