JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) – Jobs can be hard to find for non-violent felons and one Mississippi lawmaker is wanting to change that.

Representative Kabir Karriem believes in second chances

That’s why he’s made a pact with Republican Representative Joel Bomgar to create legislation this summer to help change criminal justice reform.

“We want to take this summer and just look at every aspect in a person’s life whose been involved in the crime justice crime system from why that person is there to the opportunity that needs to be provided to that individual once their formally incarcerated,” says Karriem.

Karriem says he’s very passionate about criminal justice reform.
