PLANTERSVILLE, MISS. (WCBI) – This announcement was months in the making, but it was worth the wait.

“This is an incredibly exciting day, I am absolutely thrilled beyond measure,” said Plantersville Mayor Gloria Holland.

Mayor Holland and other dignitaries , including Governor Phil Bryant, were on hand to welcome Posturecraft Mattress Company to Plantersville.

The Alabama based company started in 1988 in Double Springs .

Last April, Posturecraft’s facility was destroyed by fire after a lightning strike. Owner Casey Jones , who is originally from Amory, found out the old Polyfoam plant in Plantersville was available, and it was a perfect fit.

He also received 150 thousand dollars in state grants and funds to improve the facilities and for workforce training.

“With all the help and assistance , encouragement and motivation they gave us , it was a no brainer. It was very obvious this was the decision to make,” Jones said.

Posturecraft will employ more than 100 workers and eventually will have a payroll of about $80,000 thousand dollars a week. Governor Bryant says the company’s reputation for top quality bedding and a willing and capable workforce goes along with a new pro business campaign.

“Made in America but perfected in Mississippi. As we look to making automobiles like Toyota, as we look at Severstal plant and now Yokohama tire plant coming to West Point, we will be breaking ground there next week, even though it is manufactured in America we like to say it’s perfected here cause we make the best cars, best mattresses, the best steel of anybody in America and it is catching on,” Gov. Bryant said.

Right now there’s a handfull of employees at Posturecraft but it won’t be that way for long. Casey Jones is investing about $3,000,000 in new, high tech equipment, once that’s in place, the plant should be at full capacity about a year from now.
