Video: Propane Fumes Behind Ackerman Evacuation, Repairs Made

ACKERMAN, Miss. (WCBI) – Trees fall on propane tanks in Ackerman this morning, creating quite a scare.

High winds tore through the Choctaw County town about 5:30 AM.

The trees fell on the tanks at Fair Propane, knocking off a valve.

Fumes were released in the air and a couple homes were evacuated on Cherry Street.

“The fumes from the gas, in case a spark happened, I mean it’s not like the gas would probably would have exploded or anything, it would have just burned off. But just to be on the safe side, we evacuated for their safety only,” said Choctaw County EMA Director Brent McKnight.

The tanks were repaired by noon.
