Restaurant Chain Has Eye on North Mississippi

RIDGELAND, Miss.– Mississippi Franchise Development, LLC (MFD) announced today plans to open 10 new Salsarita’s restaurants across the state of Mississippi over the next five years. Salsarita’s is a national, 80- restaurant Fresh Mexican Cantina chain.

Phil Friedman, CEO of MFD stated, “As an experienced franchise operator and restaurateur, I was drawn to Salsarita’s because of their approach to fresh, high quality food and delivery of exceptional service. I am eager to help grow the Salsarita brand across Mississippi,” Friedman added.

Area developer, J.C. Clark, the leading franchisee for McAlister’s Deli when current Friedman owned the company, will lead the expansion. Clark worked with Friedman at McAlister’s for over 12 years before partnering with Salsarita’s. Plans currently include the launch of two restaurants opening in 2013. Although Salsarita’s has not yet secured any definite sites, Clark is focusing on northern Mississippi including: Tupelo, Oxford, and the Olive Branch/Southaven areas. Moving forward, Clark said he also plans to expand across central and southern Mississippi.

Syndication of the funding for the transaction was handled by Kap Primos an attorney with Butler, Snow, O’Mara, Stevens & Cannada, PLLC.

“With the expansion of Salsarita’s into the Mississippi market, this agreement signals that our business climate is poised for growth,” Primos said. “With this team’s business expertise and strong market potential of the Salsarita’s brand, I am confident that this project will be a successful venture.”
