STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Babysitting is a great way for teens to earn some extra money during the Summer months, but being responsible for a small child is serious business. OCH Regional Medical Center hosted the first of two Safe Sitter classes Wednesday. It teaches 11 to 14 year olds how to be confident and safe babysitters. Topics include basic life saving techniques, age appropriate activities, and security precautions.

7th grader Maggie Miller says,  “I have learned like, safe things to do while you are playing with kids. I have learned what to do in a situation that you don’t feel comfortable in, and I have learned what to do with children when you are there.”

The second safe sitter class is set for July 10th. To find out more, contact Mary Kathryn Kight at OCH. Her work number is (662) 615-3067.
