COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A large hole in Columbus largest shopping center is about to be filled.

Sears Home Store and Ross Dress for Less are moving into the former Sears location on the south end of Leigh Mall. Sears closed nine months ago.

The new franchise home store will focus on appliances and tools, two popular items when the full Sears store operated in Columbus.

Ross Dress for Less is the largest off-price apparel and home fashion chain in the United States. The company operates almost 1,100 stores in 33 states and had $8.6 billion in sales last year.

Its closest outlets are in Tuscaloosa and Tupelo.

The two businesses should be open within three months.
