BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WCBI Sports) – As the Ole Miss football team prepares for the 2013 season, head coach Hugh Freeze and three Rebels players spoke to the media Tuesday at the SEC’s football media days. Freeze and his players will look to improve upon their 7-6 finish from a year ago.

“No [last season] is not a failure. Would I be disappointed? I think that would be determined on how the 7-6 occurred. There are so many factors that you can’t factor in regarding injuries and things that may occur that you have no control over,” Freeze said.

The players echoed the push to improve.

“I wouldn’t say a disappointment, but we would like to win more than six games. We were very close last year. Those games we lost were really close. With the guys that are becoming veterans, we would like to win those games this year,” junior quarterback Bo Wallace said.

Senior linebacker Mike Marry said the Rebels need to take things one game at a time. Ole Miss begins with Vanderbilt Aug. 29 in Nashville, Tenn.

“It is very important just like every game is important. We just try to look at it and just really focus on game one right now, but it is always going to be difficult to win on the road so we can get those wins that will help us out a lot too,” Marry said.
