Sheriff Seeks Witnesses To Pedestrian Accident

LEE COUNTY (WCBI) – Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson is pleading for eyewitnesses to come forward to help establish what happened when a 3 year old child was hit by a car .

The child’s mother says her daughter was hit when a man waved the 3 year old across the road at an apartment complex and then accelerated his car to hit her.  The mother says she was not home when the incident took place but other adults were in the area and she stands by her account.  Sheriff Johnson says the child was hit on private property and there is nothing to indicate the driver involved intentionally hit the child.   Johnson says so far none of the eyewitnesses who are said to have seen the accident have come forward to confirm exactly what happened.  He says that’s who his investigators are seeking to talk with so he can move forward if needed.   If you have information you can contact Crime Stoppers of Northeast Mississippi at 1-800-773-T-I-P-S.
