FULTON, Miss. (WCBI) — A special park for some special children is planned for the campus of Itawamba Attendance Center.

A non-profit group called April’s Angels is planning a 5,000-square-foot playground that will have wheelchair ramps, sensory panels and other activities that will stimulate children with mental and physical disabilities.

The group is trying to raise the $110,000 to fund the playground.

The group is named in honor of special education teacher April South, an Itawamba teacher who died in 2011.

The playground will be built near the school’s kindergarten wing and will carry out that area’s “circus Big Top’ theme.

Donations can be made through the CREATE Foundation.
