Starkville Police Arrest Fleeing Suspect

STARKVILLE, Miss. – (PRESS RELEASE)The Starkville Police Department arrested 38 year old Michael Lee White charging him with Felony Fleeing, resulting from an incident on Friday, November 29, 2013.

White, who resides at 3695 Hwy 178 East in Mooreville, MS was picked up by the Tupelo Police Department after being sent a Felony Fleeing Warrant by the Starkville Police Department. White fled the scene again, this time on foot, when the Tupelo Police Officer attempted to serve the Starkville Warrant on him. The pursuit ended with White being apprehended in a wooded area.

At approximately 16:08 on November 29, 2013, Officers responded to the Lowe’s Parking Lot on Hwy 25 to identify a suspect from a previous shoplifting that happened at Tractor Supply. The suspects entered a 2001 Chevrolet 2500 4-Wheel Drive Pickup pulling a 5×8 cargo trailer. The Starkville Police Officer turned on his blue lights & siren but the vehicle refused to stop. The suspect ran the stop light at Kroger and Hwy. 12 driving recklessly through traffic then headed North on Hwy 25 reaching speeds of 100 mph. He then took Hwy 82 East to Hwy 389 again reaching dangerous speeds. Once entering Clay County, Deputies took lead in the pursuit. The suspect turned onto Ballard Road which dead ended into the woods and fled into the woods on foot. Clay County Deputies, Oktibbeha Count Deputies, Highway Patrol Trooper and the Starkville Police Officers searched the woods but were unable to locate the suspects. The truck was traced back to Michael Lee White and a warrant was issued for his arrest after being positively identified by witnesses.

He is currently being held in the Oktibbeha County Jail on a $50,000 Bond. The second suspect is still at large.
