STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Fresh veggies are an important part of any healthy diet.

Months ago, Henderson Ward Stewart students planted radishes, greens, carrots and even strawberries.

Friday (5-3), they chowed down on the fruits of their labor.

Rain forced the garden party into the cafeteria, but everyone seemed to enjoy a fresh green salad.
Fourth grader Shannon Dewberry says,  “It started with this grant, so we can start a garden and see how to grow things, and help us with our science lesson and also show us how to eat healthy.”

Her classmate Ashton Deweese adds,  “It has no pesticide in it, and it is all natural.”
The school salad, garden, party is an annual tradition at Henderson Ward Stewart.
