ALEA Investigating Officer Involved Shooting

LINCOLN, Ala. (AP) – State police are investigating a fatal police shooting in east Alabama.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says a Lincoln police officer shot and fatally wounded a man at a Discount Food Mart in Eastaboga on Saturday morning. The man was reportedly armed with a gun when he was shot.

State authorities haven’t released details about what happened, but they say the officer wasn’t injured.

A state trooper spokesman, Cpl. Jesse Thornton, said Tuesday investigators haven’t released any information about the victim, including his identity.

Results of the state investigation will be sent to the district attorney in Talladega County.
