Student Athlete of the Week: Victoria Vivians, MSU Women’s Basketball

Carthage, Mississippi native Victoria Vivians is a first-year Guard for the Mississippi State University Women’s Basketball team but she’s already making an impact. The league recently named Vivians SEC Freshman of the Week and she was crowned SEC Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.

“I’m just glad I’m here for my team and I’m able to do the things that I’m doing without any injuries or anything. So I’m just glad to be helpful to my team,” says Vivians.

The Lady Bulldogs are now a NCAA Top 25 team and Assistant Coach Aqua Franklin says Vivians has a lot to do with that.

“She brings a lot energy to this team, a big scoring threat. She’s a big guard. We can use her inside and out. She’s a sweetheart, a joy to be around. On our off days, we can’t keep her out of the office,” says Franklin.

Vivians says the team believes it can continue to win and the success of MSU’s football team this year is proof that hard work pays off.

“I think they inspired the whole campus, just like every sport on campus to try to be #1 because anything is possible. Make history,” says Vivians.

Although Vivians just began her college basketball career, she’s already looking towards the future.

“Finish the year out with a bang. After all of my four years here, be able to go to the WNBA,” says Vivians.

The Lady Bulldogs will take the court again at home on Thursday, December 11th.
