Video: Supreme Court Abortion Ruling Impacting Miss., Ala.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WCBI) — Monday’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning Texas’ abortion law is also impacting other states here in the south.

Justices struck down Texas’ abortion clinic regulations, saying they pose an unconstitutional burden on women looking to end their pregnancies.

Both Mississippi and Alabama have similar laws, where doctors who perform abortions are required to be able to admit patients to a nearby hospital.

Since Monday’s high court decision, Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange says his office is now ending its fight over the law.

If the admitting privilege requirement was enforced, up to four of Alabama’s five abortion clinics would close.
