Teen Pleads Guilty to Capital Murder

WINONA, Miss. (WCBI) — A Montgomery County teenager is sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to capital murder in the beating death last year of a Duck Hill man.

Dillon Seals entered his plea this week in Montgomery County Circuit Court. His trial had been set for this week. Seals, who was 17 at the time of the crime, will not be eligible for parole.

He pleaded guilty to killing 50-year-old Roy Sanders, whose body was found dumped along Graysport Road in rural northern Montgomery County last October.

Prosecutors say Sanders gave Seals a ride but stabbed him to death in the car  in Winona after being told Sanders’ daughter would not see him. After dumping the body, the teenager drove Sanders’ car to Grenada, where he used the victim’s phone to text the daughter, pretending to be him in an attempt to trick her into getting into the car with him.

When the daughter and her mother drove away, he chased them, ramming their car with the victim’s car. He later abandoned the blood-splattered car and fled. After a three-day manhunt, he was found hiding the attic of an empty house.
