Video: Testimony in Lawsuit Against West Point Will Continue Monday

ABERDEEN, Miss. – (WCBI)A federal court judge will continue to hear testimony in the racial discrimination lawsuit against the city of West Point on Monday.

Of the two dozen witnesses so far, Selectman Jasper Pittman testified on his own behalf.

Shasta Plunkett filed suit, claiming he was fired from his interim superintendent job with the electric department because he is white.He claimed Pittman and the selectmen forced him out because he was enforcing city rules by shutting off customers for non-payment. The city claims Plunkett was let go because of his demeanor and customer complaint.

Plunkett was fired in the spring of 2010. Judge Sharion Aycock is presiding, with an eight person jury.
