TISHOMINGO COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Firefighters are investigating the cause of a blaze that killed a Tishomingo County man early Sunday morning.

It happened at a home on Highway 25 in the North Crossroads community near Iuka.

Coroner Mack Wilemon tells WCBI some drivers called for help shortly after 1 a.m., after seeing flames shoot out of the building.

Wilemon believes the homeowner, 44-year-old James Willard, is the one they found dead inside the house.

They’ll positively identify the body, and conduct an autopsy this week.

The home is a total loss.
