Tishomingo County Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrests

TISHOMINGO CO., Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) – On June 26, 2016, Tishomingo Sheriff Deputies stopped a vehicle on HWY 72 in the Burnsville area for improper equipment on the vehicle.

During the course of the traffic stop, a license checks of the driver showed that the driver was operating a vehicle with SuspendedLINDSEY CHILDERS License.

The driver, Lindsey Childers, was placed under arrest.

An additional check of the occupants as well as the vehicle turned up drug paraphernalia.

While the occupants were being removed from the vehicle, one of the occupants, a Michael Lawton, attempted to hide a bag which contained a large amount of alleged methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia that is used to inject the drug into the body.

Street value of the alleged methamphetamine was approximately $2,800.00

Both Childers and Lawton were transported to the Tishomingo County Jail where they faced the following charges:

  1. LINDSEY CHILDERS, 40-year-old white female, 201 Luna Street Walnut, Mississippi = CHARGED with POSS OF PARAPHERNALIA and TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS.
  2. MICHAEL LAWTON, 42-year-old white male, 117 CR 523 Corinth, Mississippi = CHARGED with POSS OF CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE (METHAMPHETAMINE) W/INTENT TO SELL.Both individuals are awaiting bond to be set by Justice Court. **LAWTON is currently on probation with the MDOC and MDOC has placed a HOLD**.
