TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- Annexation takes effect Sunday in Tupelo, making the city 16 square miles larger.
The 2,500 new residents come from six different areas around the city. They used to be a part of unincorporated Lee County.
The county, Saltillo and Plantersville lost the fight against Tupelo’s annexation bid. City officials are working on making this a smooth transition for the community, opening up for a meet and greet Wednesday at City Hall.
They will be answering any questions residents have about city services and regulations.
