Columbus Police Investigate A Fatal Shooting

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The Columbus Police Department is investigating an early morning fatal shooting.
According to a press release, authorities responded around 2:30 AM Saturday to 2602 Puckett Parkway to investigate a shooting.

A 41-year-old male was shot. He was found in a vehicle in front of the house and was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The cause of death will be reported by the Lowndes County Coroner, Greg Merchant, after an autopsy is conducted.

He has been identified as Carl Junior Miller.

Details of the shooting are not being released at this time, but investigators are treating this shooting as a homicide.

A person of interest was taken into custody by Columbus Investigators, but no charges have been filed at this time.
