NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — The daughter of a woman killed in Noxubee County is talking with the media for the first time in 10 years, hoping the killer will be arrested.

WCBI sat down with the victim’s family, and law enforcement for the latest on the case.

“It still feels like a ghost committed this horrific murder, and a ghost did not do it,” said Latonya Ramsey Chandler. “It was done by some person.”

It’s been 10 years since Chandler’s mother, Kattie Ramsey, was killed in her Noxubee County home, and the killer still roams free.

“She has three beautiful grandchildren who will never get to know her love, never get to hear her voice, so I just want justice in her name, because she deserves to have justice in her name,” Chandler said.

Ramsey’s death investigation is still open, and deputies are still looking for leads in the cold case, but that doesn’t settle the family’s fears.

“You don’t know if that person is around you. You don’t know if you’re going to church with them. You don’t know if you’re eating dinner with them. You just don’t know, and that’s the hurting part,” said Sarah Wells, Ramsey’s sister.

Sheriff Terry Grassaree knows this case all too well. He was chief investigator at the time.

“It was some people of interest that came up when it first happened, but we never could prove anything, and we never could get anything together, nor get any other statements or witnesses or anything,” Grassaree said.

Since they haven’t had much luck, he says they’d like bring in a state investigator sometime before the end of the year, to help.

“That can help us sort’ve go back over the file, see if there’s anything we’ve missed with some fresh eyes,” Grassaree said.

Both Grassaree and Ramsey’s family believe someone knows something about the murder. They want anyone with information to come forward.

“You never know what piece of the puzzle you may have to solve this murder, and give my mom justice,” Chandler said.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Noxubee County sheriff’s department at 662-726-5133, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
