STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Three firemen now have another uniform to wear.
Starkville’s Fire Chief, the Fire Marshal and Sargent are all now reserve police officers for the Starkville Police Department.

The three took a course to become certified reserve officers and previously served in Columbus as reserve officers.

In addition to their fire investigation skills, the men hope by becoming reserve officers, they can serve the public even more.

“That’s one good thing, we get a chance to see every side from the EMS side, fire side and police side and we can take those aspects and put them together and make us better for the community we serve. Not only this community, but the surrounding communities,” said Starkville Fire Chief Charles Yarbrough.
The Columbus Fire Department also has six who serve as reserve officers as well.
