Holland Announces Bid for 9th Term

LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — One of the region’s longest serving state lawmaker54s will seek another term in next year’s elections.

State Rep. Steve Holland says he’ll seek a ninth term representing the 16th District. The 59-year-old Plantersville Democrat already has served 31 years representing Lee County and overcame a serious illness during last year’s legislative session.

He’s one of the longest-serving members in Northeast Mississippi and the House.

Party primaries are next summer and general elections in November. Qualifying begins Monday and runs through the end of February.

Holland is a farmer and owns a funeral home in partnership with his mother, Justice Court Judge Sadie Holland.

His wife, the former Gloria Temple, is the sitting mayor of Plantersville and his eldest brother, Billy Joe Holland, is the 5th District Lee County Board of Supervisors member.
