Hood Issues Ruling On New Open Carry Gun Law

(JACKSON, Ms)(WCBI)  The state’s new open carry law, which allow gun owners to openly carry firearms is set to go into effect in less than one month.  The new statute is causing concern and confusion among both citizens and law enforcement over what is and is not legal under the new ruling.  Thursday, Attorney General Jim Hood issued an AG opinion addressing many of the questions about the law.  Under the ruling, Hood says private businesses do have the right to ask customers not to bring weapons into their stores.  Current laws allowing counties to ban guns inside courthouses will also remain intact  under the AG ruling.  For the complete text of the AG opinion click here Gun Ruling
