COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – School is out, but now is the time to plan improvements for districts across Mississippi.

Local superintendents and school board members gathered at Mississippi University for Women Thursday (5-30) night.

It gave people from different districts a chance to interact, and find out about the role that the “W” can play in getting everybody on the same page.

Dr. Mike Waldrop, the Executive Director of the Mississippi School Board Association was the featured speaker.

When asked about changes in education, he said, ” Changes deal with how people look on public education now. We see more and more towards choice; like charter schools, consolidation of schools. It’s kind of a national trend to private education.”

Thursday’s event was held in the President’s Dining Room on campus.
