OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Events like concerts and game day weekends are always fun for the fans but what does it mean for local law enforcement?
Around 15,000 people are expected to fill Holtcamp Farms Wednesday night in Lowndes County.

On a Saturday in Davis Wade Stadium, more than 60,000 fans fill the stadium.

In order to keep everyone safe, precise planning is key for law enforcement.

“And you have to have a plan before the game. You have to have a plan during the game and then after the game. And that’s just like tonight with the Luke Bryan concert. Once its over, now everybody is leaving there at one time trying to get back onto the highway and these county roads and there is only one way out,” said Oktibbeha County Sheriff Steve Gladney.

For big events, Sheriff Gladney says he brings in extra man power.

Thanks to some grant money, the extra help doesn’t put too big of a strain on their budget.

“We’ve been lucky enough to be able to get grants and we try to bring people in on their days off and work them on these grants, which relieves the people on the shift to be able to do that,” said Sheriff Gladney.

Sheriff Gladney also says working these big events takes a team effort to make sure everyone stays safe.

“That’s what its going to take, everybody work together and make sure everyone,” added Sheriff Gladney.
