Video: Search For Fishermen Missing in Monroe Co. Continues

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The search is on for two missing fishermen in Monroe County.

64-year-old Harold McCreight and 69-year-old Winford Holmes Jr, launched their boat from the Tombigbee River around 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Local authorities recieved a call from family members around 10 p.m. after they couldn’t make contact with the two men.

Around 1  a.m. Wednesday, search crews found the men’s boat capsized around two miles from their launch site.

Extra help has been called in to aid in the search efforts.

“We have been looking for these two individuals since then. We hope they might have gotten to the bank and had walked out but at this point, that hasn’t happened. We really don’t know at this point. If anybody were to see these people I wish they’d call the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department,” said Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell.

Authorities say the water levels are higher than normal because of recent rainfall rates.
