COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s one of the busiest shopping days of the year and it’s almost here.

Stores everywhere are preparing for Black Friday.

Last year, according to Adobe, U.S shoppers spent a record breaking $2.4 billion on Black Friday and this year is expected to be even bigger.

Customers are beginning to eye the deals they want on Black Friday.

“Are you excited about shopping? Yes, I am because there is a lot that I want,” said local shopper, Catera Kelly.

At JCPenney in Columbus, employees are busy pushing out their sale merchandise.

“Well we’ve gone through got pretty much everything out of the stockroom, lits the store to have it all stacked out, ready to go to make it easy for the customers to shop,” said general manager, Victoria Aurigemma.

According to WalletHub, JCP offered the most advertised discounts for 2015, with an average discount of 68%.

Aurigemma has been with the company for more than 10 years.

She’s seen many Black Friday sales but expects this year to be even busier than before.

“It’s definitely very busy and this year, we expect a great crowd because we have a giveaway first thing when we open up at 3:00 that customers can get coupons good for $10 off $10, $100 off $100 or $500 off a $500 shopping trip,” said Aurigemma.

This year, JCPenney will open two hours earlier than in the past.

For those shopping this Black Friday, Aurigemma says it’s important to have a plan.

“Yeah definitely take that ad, if you look online or get it in the paper, see what all you want to get. We’re well stocked in store of all the merchandise. But definitely want to hit those 1,2,3 items first, kind of map your way through and if you’re able to, come early so you can get one of those coupons,” added Aurigemma.
