Tupelo Returns To Evening Christmas Parades

PRESS RELEASE

Tupelo, Miss. – The Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association (DTMSA) is thrilled to welcome the Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales for a “nighttime parade”. The 65th Annual Reed’s Tupelo Christmas Parade will be held Tuesday, December 10th in Downtown Tupelo.

The 2013 theme for the Christmas Parade will be “Twas The Night Before Christmas”. We are excited about the float decorating possibilities this theme provides.

Earlier this year, Council Woman Nettie Davis, was elected the Tupelo City Council President. She serves as the first woman and African American council president for Tupelo. DTMSA and Reed’s are proud to have her represent Tupelo and participate as the Grand Marshall in the 2013 Christmas Parade.

At the Anheuser-Busch Ambassador of Excellence program, Mitchell Distributing in Tupelo won the Top Performer distinction for the third consecutive year, earning it the highest honor as an inaugural recipient of the “Big Jake” award.

As part of the award, MDC-Tupelo will receive a commemorative Clydesdales trophy to be personally delivered by the world-famous Budweiser Clydesdales hitch in December.

The Ambassador of Excellence program is the standard that every wholesaler in the Anheuser-Busch system strives for. Points are awarded based on a wholesaler’s achievement of the annual KPIs. The maximum possible point award is 1,000.

At the Wholesaler Excellence Meeting in Las Vegas in the spring, recipients of the prestigious Big Jake award were publicly recognized. MDC-Tupelo was one of only 7 out of more than 700 wholesalers to achieve this recognition.

“Reed’s is proud to honor a woman who has been a pioneer in Tupelo and plans to continue the progression of our city. In order to have the Clydesdales in the parade we felt the nighttime was the right time. This will be an exciting change for this year,” said Jack Reed, Jr.

The 65th Annual Reed’s Tupelo Christmas Parade will be Tuesday, December 10th on the streets of downtown Tupelo. The parade will begin at 6:30p.m. Groups can register to be in the parade by downloading the application off the DTMSA website, www.tupelomainstreet.com, or picking up an application at the DTMSA office, located at 108 S. Broadway Street in Downtown Tupelo. The registration deadline is Friday, November 8th. Any entries postmarked after November 8th will be accepted until November 15th if space is available and must include a $25 late fee.
