TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – A country music trio, with roots in Northeast Mississippi, are making a mark on the Nashville entertainment scene.
As WCBI’s Allie Martin reports, Brassfield Aly was on the lineup this weekend at the “Don’t Be Cruel Barbecue Duel” making musical memories for longtime fans and new admirers.

Rainy weather didn’t dampen the spirits of loyal Brassfield Aly fans as the country music trio took the stage at Tupelo’s Don’t Be Cruel Barbecue Duel.

The hour plus long set was a homecoming for this group. Bradley and Chadley Brassfield are from Houston, and six years ago, they teamed up through facebook, with singer-songwriter Aly Cutter, to form Brassfield Aly.

“They emailed my manager, our now current manager, Kenny Beard, and had this video of them singing and they were amazing,” said Aly Cutter.

From the start, they put an emphasis on vocals.

“Our original songs, I feel like it’s just a really tight blend of harmony, and a lot of tight influences meshed into one, what we love most about our songs is, when we hit that chorus, we sound like a family but when we sing individually, sound like our influences,” said Chadley Brassfield.

Their original song, “Cheap Shades” received a lot of airtime on Sirius XM last year and they are about to release a new single and tour this spring and summer.

All three will tell you it’s difficult to break into the competitive world of country music, but they are determined and say the past six years has been a fun learning experience.
“It’s been tough, some rough roads, but I truly love these guys and I love what I do,” said Bradley Brassfield.
Band members say playing for a hometown crowd was refreshing and they plan on many more return visits. If you would like more information about Brassfield Aly, go to www.facebook.com/brassfieldalymusic
