Update: Area Man Last Seen With Missing Woman Is Arrested

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WCBI-TV) – An area man is in custody in the case of a missing woman, whose body investigators found Thursday.

Detectives found the body of Christy Cook in Jefferson County, Alabama and they’re investigating her death as a homicide. She’s from Tuscaloosa County. A man told detectives he found her in a bedroom of his McCalla, Alabama house after returning from a trip.

The man investigators say she was last seen with is in the Jefferson County jail as of Thursday afternoon. Anthony Gene McClellan is from Carrollton in Pickens County.

Online records show the sheriff’s department there is holding him on a capital murder charge. A department spokesman says Thursday they’ve not issued an arrest warrant.
