UPDATE – Details Released On Pontotoc Fatal Crashes

PONTOTOC COUNTY (WCBI ) The Mississippi Highway Patrol is releasing details on two different fatal crashes in Pontotoc County.

The first took place around 6:40 this morning when an Ecru woman was trying to cross  Highway 278 from Highway 345 and pulled into the path of a motorcycle heading west on 278.  That motorcyclist, 29 year old Donald Moody also of Ecru struck the Ford GLM and was killed at the scene.

Troopers were also working another fatal crash at nearly the same time this one near Algoma.   Accident reports show 35 year old Teresa Gonzalez  of Houston was heading north on Highway 15 just south of the Highway 41 intersection when she approached traffic stopped in the road. Gonzalez then apparently swerved to miss those stopped cars and her Chevrolet Tahoe left the road and flipped throwing her from the SUV.  She was pronounced dead on the scene.   Troopers say two other minor accidents happened while they were investigating the fatal crash.

This is the third fatal crash in 2017 in the Troop F district where the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
