UPDATE – Lowndes Deputy Recovering From Gunshot
COLUMBUS ( WCBI) – Lowndes County Narcotics officer Kevin Forrester is recovering from the gunshot wound suffered this morning in the shootout with a fleeing suspect.
Forrester was wounded in both legs in the gunfire exchange on Highway 82 this morning. he was hit by one bullet that passed through one leg and lodged in the other. A spokesperson for Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle says Forrester is now in a room and is in stable condition. Privacy laws prevent the hospital from disclosing what type of treatment Forrester is receiving or if any surgery was required.
An Oktibbeha County deputy suffered a slight cut to the hand when he deployed stop sticks when the fleeing man came through Oktibbeha County but his wounds did not require extensive medical care.
