UPDATE: Man Found Guilty of Capitol Murder Sentenced to Life in Prison

LOWNDES CO, Miss. (WCBI)- Judge Jim Kitchens sentenced a man to life in prison without parole, after a jury found him guilty of capital murder.

29-year- old Joshua Taylor was sentenced to life behind bars, after a 6 year and three-day trial.

On Thursday, a jury found Taylor guilty of capital murder, in the shooting death of William Stallings.

Stallings mother, Mrs. Josy Porter, asked the judge not to seek the death penalty.

It was very emotional inside the courtroom, with tears rolling down the faces of the victim’s family and the killer’s.

Stallings mother, Porter, told Taylor she forgives him for what he did to her son, and Taylor apologized for taking her son’s life away.

Judge Kitchens ordered Taylor be immediately sent to the Mississippi Department of Corrections, as Taylor left the room in handcuffs

Tonight on WCBI News, find out what District Attorney Scott Colom, Stallings’s mother, and Taylor’s attorney have to say about today’s decision.
