VERNON, Ala. (WCBI) – Small business owners in Vernon, Alabama are getting much needed assistance. The University of Alabama opened a business resource center this morning for entrepreneurs looking to start up or expand.

Wednesday morning, Vernon, cut the ribbon on its new business resource center. The Alabama Entrepreneurial Research Network program works to enhance business development throughout rural Alabama. It’s sponsored by the University of Alabama’s business school.

The program has three components: training, online resources and business planning software.  The Vernon business center is located inside the city library. It’s free and open to the public.

Each business center costs about 20 thousand dollars a year to operate.  It took 18 months to complete, but should pay dividends for a lifetime.
