NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) — After eight months of discussions, New Albany have finally put the chicken issue to roost. The issue came up last Spring when alderman Jeff Olson said his constituents were complaining about roosters crowing early in the morning and chickens roaming in neighborhoods. Olsen wanted an ordinance banning chickens in the city. But some home farmers said it is a new form of sustainable gardening and should be allowed. Last week, aldermen finally banned chickens in the city except on property zoned agricultural.
