MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) — Nine of Mississippi’s 15 community colleges will raise tuition this fall.

The increases average 4 percent statewide. But the increases are small, amounting to less than $200 in most cases.

Statewide, the average tuition will be $2,476, up $99 from the previous year.

Community college leaders say they need the small increases to help offset building needs and other costs, even though enrollments are stabilizing after spiking during the recession.
