Video: American Family Association Responds to HB 1523 Stay

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -A pro-family organization based in Tupelo is also speaking out on the move to keep House Bill 1523 from becoming law.

The American Family Association supports the legislature’s move to allow individuals to cite their religious beliefs to refuse certain services.

A public policy analyst with the AFA says the judge’s ruling turns the First Amendment upside down.

“This particular judge was involved in overturning Mississippi’s marriage amendment before, so I can’t say I am surprised, but in light of recent decisions continually encroaching and eroding our religious freedom I can tell you it’s unnerving to see it happening in this day and this age.”

It is possible that the State will appeal the judge’s ruling.
