STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) Mississippi is teeming with fans ready for tonight’s College World Series championship game. But what about fans in bulldog country rooting for the other team.

In all the excitement of Mississippi State playing for their first national title, UCLA have been the last thing on most fans mind.

They’ve had an impressive season, but will their talent hold up to the enthusiasm of the bulldog fan base?
One UCLA alumni who moved to Starkville and has changed his tune.

“To come be a professor at an SEC school with all the great sports in the SEC was one of the reasons I took this job. When I was at UCLA I was there watching the Bruins beat Michigan in the ’83 Rose Bowl. UCLA has all kind of titles. But I think that State has a clutch team and the way that they just play when the chips are down. I hope the football team learns some things from the baseball team,” said UCLA alum and Mississippi State professor.

Dr. Bickle has been in Starkville for several years and says he has no plans to return to the land of the bears.
