CALHOUN CITY, Miss. (WCBI) – Some Calhoun City residents paid tribute to the men and women who died while serving in our armed forces by releasing balloons in their honor. Representative Jim Beckett was the featured guest at Saturday’s event. One WWII Veteran says it’s important to remember those who are no longer with us.
“I believe in patriotism and believe in loving our nation and remembering those who paid the ultimate sacrifice. It enables us to still have our freedom today. I had so many to die by my side in The Battle of Iwo Jima,” says Bufford Ussery.
This is the 10th year Pryor Funeral Home has hosted this event.
