CALHOUN, Miss. (WCBI) — It’s been a long winter across North Mississippi, but A Calhoun County man had his own secret feeling of summer.

Joe Massey grows pineapples in his greenhouse. He has 13 plants and has harvested four.

Massey says he doesn’t sell them, he just enjoys them with his wife whenever the winter days get a little long.

Massey started by planting the tops of pineapples bought at the store.

It’s not his only unusual crop. He also grows avocados, which are rare in Mississippi.
